Seminar series in Emergency Medicine and pharmaceutics
The development of the new National Health Service requires commitment and training. Knowledge and organisation must be adapted to new needs and modernised. According to what Prof Venturini said, scientific and technological development (from advances in molecular or imaging diagnostics to the rapid development of new drugs, instrumentation and methods, from the perspectives of regenerative medicine to the spread of wearable monitoring tools), designs a medicine in continuous evolution, with the patient at the center who is increasingly involved in his own personalized health care process.

As a result, the health organization is also evolving towards new models of care integrating the different specialist skills and services with respect to the clinical conditions of the acute and chronic phase of the disease in an aging population that presents increasingly complex problems. We are therefore faced with new types of therapeutic strategies, and with an organizational evolution, both nationally and regionally, that need to evolve the model of clinical pharmacy currently applied in our NHS.

The clinical pharmacy was born from the need to customize the therapy and the approach oriented to the individual patient and his needs. Now is the time to rethink and modernize this approach, providing a more marked involvement in the clinical part, to get fully into the new model of care as competent and organized specialists. The clinical pharmacy can develop into the new model of care, if it offers professionals prepared both from a technical and managerial point of view.

We will have the excellent opportunity to hear from the protagonists at the forefront of this new service for Italy - the “DOCTORS AND CLINICAL PHARMACIST” collaboration. From USA (Chicago and Harvard), Lexie Asrow and Jenny Koehl will talk about Seniors in E.D. and collaboration in Clinical Pharmacy.
